CLARE MOCHRIE
Principal

Clare is an experienced leader, planner and project manager. An independent consultant for over 15 years, Clare’s collaborative leadership style, business acumen and exceptional communication skills have made her a key asset in helping communities and organizations devise innovative solutions around challenges related to health, housing, economic development, accessibility, water sustainability and land use.

Her focus is on working with clients to fully understand their context, build on their strengths and identify opportunities that maximize their reach and impact. She helps clients to define what success means for them – and she helps them make it happen. Towards this end, her work covers a variety of fields, including strategic planning, community and stakeholder engagement, research, policy and program development, performance evaluation and project management.

Clare has experience working in all sectors, managing different interests and facilitating communication between multiple stakeholders. Over the years, she has had the opportunity to work with communities throughout British Columbia and internationally, helping them to formulate long range visions, goals, policies and strategies to guide future development and achieve local economic, environmental and social sustainability. She also has experience working with all levels of government and has a strong understanding of public process, how decisions are made and influenced - and how policies are developed.

Clare has experience in the academic and not-for-profit sectors, working with Boards of Directors, managing volunteers and soliciting grants. She has worked at the Director level in a multinational corporation providing counsel on stakeholder and government relations. She also has experience working at the grassroots level with communities and First Nations.

Clare holds a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University and a Masters of Planning from the University of British Columbia. She also has training in program evaluation (Canadian Evaluation Society), carbon finance (University of Toronto) and social auditing (AccountAbility).

In her professional life, Clare is drawn to a challenge and is passionate about projects that help make the world a better place. In her free time, she can be found roaming the woods with her two children or running the trails of the Vancouver North Shore.
