2004
– EASI Learning Dialogues (Employment Access for Skilled Immigrants
Initiative)
In 2004/05, Clare Mochrie worked in collaboration with Transition Works
and EnCompass Consultants Inc. on a project to organize and facilitate
a series of Learning Dialogues for the Employment Access for Skilled
Immigrants (EASI) Initiative. EASI
is a provincial initiative that was created in 2003 to “facilitate,
communicate and foster collaborative efforts within the multidimensional
system to support the needs of skilled immigrants entering the workforce
in BC”. The purpose of the Learning Dialogues was to bring stakeholders
together to share information, increase involvement in EASI and provide
an environment that supports innovation and collaboration.
2004
to date – EMERGENCE Canada Project (UBC EMERGENCE)
Emergence
Canada is a national research project investigating different outsourcing
arrangements of telemediated employment/'e-work' between firms within
Canada and between Canada and the rest of the world. In line with the
International EMERGENCE Project, the aim of the research is to learn more
about the characteristics and quality of telemediated jobs that are relocating
between Canada, Asia and Europe. Since 2004, Clare has been the project
manager of EMERGENCE Canada, conducting interviews and developing case
studies on difference e-work practices domestically and abroad.
BC
Fair Pharmacare Program
Clare
worked as a project manager for Ministry of Health Services to assist
in the implementation and communication of a major policy change
effecting the provincial drug insurance program. This role involved
developing communications materials, helping to manage a province-wide
media campaign and working with a broad range of stakeholders to ensure
widespread public awareness about the new program.
Voices
for Change Project
Voices
for Change was a project funded by the Canadian Centre for Foreign Policy
aimed at engaging youth in discussions about corporate social responsibility.
In 2001, Clare Mochrie was contracted by the project to write a background
paper on corporate social responsibility. This paper formed the
basis of a symposium held at UBC
Liu Institute for Global Issues in March 2002 involving youth
and representatives from business, industry and academia. Clare also
assisted in planning and facilitating the symposium.
Regional Devolution of Home Oxygen Program, Ministry of Health Services
In
2001/02, Clare worked with the staff of Regional Programs in Pharmacare
and senior representatives in the Regional Health Authorities to manage
the regionalization of a province-wide health services program.
The project involved the developing a background paper and package of
materials for regional authorities. Clare also coordinated and facilitated
a meeting of regional authority representatives for the purpose of explaining
the process and addressing concerns

Consultation Report on Pharmacare in BC
In
2001, the BC Minister of Health Services conducted a review of PharmaCare,
BC's drug and prescription benefit plan. Various provincial stakeholders
were asked for their comments and recommendations on the programs and
financial management of Pharmacare. Clare prepared a detailed consultation
review report for the Minister distilling the key issues and recommendations
to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and financial management of
the programs.
2005
to present – Regional Vancouver Urban Observatory
Since June 2005, Clare has been working as Project Manager
of the Regional Vancouver Urban Observatory (RVu). RVu is the first
local urban observatory in a developed country, building on the global
network of local observatories organized by UN-Habitat, the United Nations
Program for Human Settlements. The project is based out of the Urban
Studies Department of Simon Fraser University. Its objective is to engage
the community in a participatory process to develop and monitor a set
of local and relevant indicators for regional sustainability. The initial
work of RVu will be one of the highlights of the World Urban Forum taking
place in Vancouver in June 2006.
2005
– Greater Victoria Public Library Strategic Planning Process and
User Survey (Greater Victoria Public Library)
In 2005, Clare worked in collaboration with Marleen Morris & Associates
to research, plan and implement a strategic planning process with the
Board of the Greater Victoria Public Library. Clare’s role on
the project team involved developing an on-line survey and analyzing
and presenting the results to inform the process.
